Studio Ghibli
Studio Ghibli is responsible for some of my favorite all-time animated features and they are collaborating with Level-5 to make a Nintendo DS and PS3 game called Ni no Kuni. The games are completely separate games built from scratch – no porting of content from one to the other. The PS3 screens and trailers released so far are beautiful and capture the spirit of the Ghibli’s motion pictures.

Adding to my excitement for this title is the news that has recently been confirmed Level-5’s CEO that this title will see a Western release. Let’s face it, if this game were to not be released in the US, then… well… I probably wouldn’t play it.

The fact that my son has recently become addicted to My Neighbor Totoro is definitely driving my anxiousness about this game. Having watched Totoro 20 or so times in the last couple weeks, I have been reminded constantly how amazing Studio Ghibli’s animation is and I’m constantly seeing things I never noticed before. Pixar also recognizes the genius that is Totoro and gave him a cameo in Toy Story 3:

Can’t wait for this game.

Much respect to stdiuo ghibli. I’m no big anime/manga/cartoon fan but I have seen all their works, most of in japanese with subtitles and I actually preffered it that way. The way they portray moral dilemmas in a way that shows a wider picture and not just a moral finality. When the little satans spawn from from my man juices, they will watch this stuff. Now I’m a grown man and I didn’t care an ounce for Bambi. I didn’t whimper for field of dreams, and I sure didn’t buckle over when Bindi Irwin became our best known living personality to the world. But I wont be shamed if I didn’t have sniffle at the end of Grave of the Fireflies. As for stdiuo ghibli. The merchandise and d/l disc sales would keep them knee high in cosplay girls for the rest of their lives. They don’t need foreign theatres to stay alive that is unless there is a stupid drain on their resources.VA:F [1.9.21_1169](from 0 votes)
